Professional Learning Communities

When teachers learn, students learn. Teaching quality is improved through continuous professional learning. In order to remain effective in today's classroom, teachers must be continuously looking at strategies to improve their practice. The needs of society and of our students continue to change. Professional development is crucial and today, the most promising context for continuous professional learning is the professional learning community. In 2010, the Minister of Education struck a committee - the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Study Committee - to study this topic and make recommendations to government. The report of the PLC Study Committee can be found on the Department of Education website at:

SCHOOL CLOSURE DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION
The Halifax Regional School Board takes great care when making the decision to alter the normal operations of schools in the event of severe or inclement weather. Decisions on school closures and/or bus cancellations are posted on the board’s website at www.hrsb.ns.ca; on Twitter at www.twitter.com/HRSB_Official; recorded on 464-INFO (4636) and communicated to all local radio stations.
